About
Exercise
Exercise is most accurately
described as the active use of the body to maintain and/or build endurance and
strength in order to make the body healthier, physically and mentally. Exercise
as a recreational activity is a fairly modern development. In the fast paced and
hi-tech world of today very few occupations involve labor and physical
activities. In the past, many jobs and day to day aspects of life involved
physical labor. Today physical activities are associated with "recreational
exercise". We firmly believe in the holistic approach to wellness. Proper
nutrition, weight training, and cardiovascular exercise. One cannot reach their
maximum capabilities without the proper combination of all three.
Psychological and physical benefits
are rewards for exercise. On the psychological side exercise helps one to feel
better about themselves and build self-esteem as well as alleviate stress. The
physical advantage of exercise is that it develops muscle tone, strength, and is
a determining factor in weight control, whether one needs to lose or gain.
Weight resistance training builds muscle and can burn up to eighty percent of
our calories consumed. A consistent exercise program along with proper nutrition
builds and tones muscles, including the heart. It also makes bones stronger by
increasing calcium uptake and may reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Exercise is for people of all ages.
Whether you simply want to lose a few pounds, increase your athletic performance
or be a competitive bodybuilder everyone needs a nutrition and exercise program.
This keeps younger people in shape and they are more likely to continue to
exercise throughout their lives. When people get older, the benefits are even
more important. It has a beneficial effect on the aging body and helps to
maintain fitness as well as slowing down the physical aspects of aging. The
older one gets the more the body becomes de-conditioned and if not exercised properly
problems may occur in the skeletal and cardiovascular systems.
In closing I would like to say that
a nutrition and exercise program should be planned carefully and customized for
the individuals' needs and goals. It will make even the healthy and the
physically disadvantaged reach a new overall level of wellness and give them
personal gratification.
Exercise programs start at $20 and
includes cardiovascular exercise and weight resistance training. This is for the
experienced as well as the inexperienced. If you have sport specific needs you
